The program started with a visit to DXC Technology Global, guided by Miss Janny, Senior Talent Acquisition. At the first station, students had the opportunity to learn about the global culture of DXC and the DECP internship program.

Miss Janny gave the best pieces of advice to SIU freshmen that they should choose to develop their “one skill for all?and have the right direction from the beginning to enter the race quickly.

On the same page as Miss Janny, Mr. Nguyen Van Diep, Project Director of TMA Technology Group, suggested the current technology trends. Mr Diep also introduced TMA Innovation Park in the Creative Valley of Quy Nhon, which aims to become the technology center contributing to the scientific, technical, and socio-economic development of the Central Highlands.

“Currently, the project focuses on investing in data development, which will be a big chance for students in Computer Science, especially those specializing in BigData? Mr Diep shared in a statement.

At the 3rd station, Mr Vu Thanh Tuan, head of the recruitment office of FPT Software, revealed that only about 30% of CVs pass the recruitment process at Fsoft, while the HR positions often do not meet the KPI requirements. Looking towards 2030, the Fsoft workforce is expected to reach 110,000 employees, about 3.5 times the current number of 30,000 employees.

Mr Tuan believed that stepping into the technology is not difficult, and what freshmen need to do is early orientation, and focusing on their concentration and language proficiency.

Mr. Le Ngoc Hieu, Director of Bang Huu Technical Service Trading Limited Liability Company, shared his fortunate experience in participating in digital transformation projects in Singapore and Malaysia. According to Mr. Hieu, projects on the cloud services platform are currently a dominant trend. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Alibaba, Oracle, etc., provide valuable international certification courses in this field.

“These certifications, combined with foundational knowledge acquired from university education, will be a significant advantage for job applications,” affirmed Mr. Hieu.

At the 5th station, Mr. Doan Vu Trung, Sales Manager of BRAVO Software Joint Stock Company, introduced the direction of Generative AI – the “new force” in the labor market. Many subgroups of Generative AI are being applied in various enterprises, opening up new possibilities.

Representative of BRAVO Software Joint Stock Company said that the domestic market is still promising and many enterprises need support for digital transformation.

Many freshmen expressed their concerns about the global wave of layoffs in BigTech companies and the saturation of IT in the Western market.

However, the guests provided reasonable explanations for this wave and emphasized that a “standard” candidate – someone who is always ready to learn and adapt to new circumstances – is the key to seizing career opportunities.

Associate Professor Dr. Tran Cong Hung, Head of the School of Engineering and Computer Science, emphasized the innovation aspect of the curriculum at SIU: “After 2 years, starting from the third year, you can participate in part-time work on projects and be provided with conditions to balance work and study.”

In addition to equipping students with specialized knowledge and professional skills to enter the job market, the SIU Early Career Guidance program also focuses on accompanying and supporting students in pursuing international certification courses from top-notch universities around the world.

The score is calculated based on the degree of success of the project and the participation and input of each student. This particular method has been applied at SIU in recent years and received positive feedback.

“Memories?is the name of the project required to complete the course of Human Resource Management. This project was conceptualized and carried out at Fleming Campus by Course 6 students on the 20th of November. This project included a special art program depicting student life. Not only did the students perform on stage but they also organized the entire event themselves.

The program’s theme revolves around the central message, “Celebrating Memories? which the students conveyed through a diverse performance repertoire that includes drama, singing, dancing, magic and concert that lasted for 2 hours. With a combination of elaborate stage production and natural talents, the students made the audience laugh and cry with perfomances that elicit memories of love that bonds countrymen, families and friends. The show also highlighted the special relationship between teachers and students as they celebrate Vietnamese Teachers’ Day on the 20th of November.

If the stage is where students flourish with artistic inspiration, behind the scenes, each member becomes an important link in the crew. They worked like professionals; they cooperated and coordinated with each other in overseeing the program. Pham Doan An Tam, a Foreign Trade major said: “Each member has a specific contribution to the project based on his strengths. For instance, I have experience on stage design, so I am in charge of that. Other students took the role of MC, photographer, performer, sound technician, IT, etc. We divided the work fairly equally to all members, jointly handling difficulties and solving problems that arise in the implementation process. This helped us bond with each other and learned many valuable things along the way.

Talking about this practical examination, Mr. Nguyen Van My said, “This is one of the methods that increases practical experience. It gives students an opportunity to express themselves and discover their potential through hands-on experience. By participating in this project, students are able to learn a variety of important skills related to personnel work such as event organization, human resource management, leadership, communication and cooperation.?/p>

Student-centered learning, wherein the teacher only acts as a guide and facilitator, is a modern teaching method that has been applied at SIU to promote and produce positive, creative and active students. As a result, this method has formed a comfortable, fascinating and energetic learning environment that fits with the current modern academic trends in leading universities around the world.

For Tran Minh Nguyen ?the second year student at The Saigon International University (SIU), his present part time job helps him to get closer to his ambition. Surprisingly, his salary now is in the range of $500 to $700 per month.

When thinking about Tran Minh Nguyen, what comes to students and teachers?mind is he’s the student who has talent on playing guitar and the one who always enthusiastically takes part in every extracurricular activity and club organized by SIU.

5 interviews and the memorable breakthough

Being instinctively passionate about designing and developing games for a long time, since the beginning of the university year, Tran Minh Nguyen has spent time researching for his future career. The French Gameloft company was his first objective on his way to fulfill his dream ?to become a professional game developer.

For those who love technology, the term Gameloft is not a strange one. Gameloft, a top company publishing mobile phone games in the world, is a familiar name to technology lovers. This company has branches in more than 80 countries, including Vietnam. The worldwide working environment at Gameloft attracts a large number of young people wishing to have a job opportunity. Not the exceptional, Tran Minh Nguyen is among those. After many times of not giving up on sending application forms to the company, on a nice sunny day, he got his changes at last. After taking interviews by email twice, face-to-face interviews thrice and training for two months, the young guy, born in 1996, succeed, and officially became the youngest employee of the French Gameloft company.

On every Friday night and on weekends, when his friends spend time relaxing and entertaining themselves after learning very hard on weekdays, he turns to his beloved part time job. Up to now, Minh Nguyen is still part of Gameloft company and has worked there for a year.

Learn and Practice

Many people learning about Nguyen’s story wonder where he got such rich knowledge and incredibly practical experience to get a job from one of the most famous technology companies in Vietnam. In fact, his first lessons at The Saigon International University gave the young student more than what he had expected.

His basic knowledge and fundamental skills gained from the computer science course at The Saigon International University actually helped him take the initiative to familiarize himself with his current working environment. If you have a chance to visit his class, you will easily realize that, in SIU learning environment, lecturers do not only give students useful information but also teach them how to examine, analyze what they learn by themselves as well as how to figure out the lessons by group discussions. Due to those effective teaching methods, Minh Nguyen understands everything and can easily apply what he has learnt to his job in the company. He says “I feel like I’m lucky to have a chance to actually make use of what I have learnt at my university to a real life job; on the other hand, the experience I’ve got from working in this company really helps me easily picture and comprehend the lessons at university.

Although learning and part-time working are time-consuming, almost lead to a full time schedule every day, the young man still enthusiastically participates in some extracurricular activities at SIU so as to enrich his skills and life experience. Nguyen says: “When taking part in activities, I have got opportunities to meet many teachers and friends. In many events, I have a chance to experience and improve my communication skills effectively. For me, success stems from passion, determination and especially your experience with chances and new things around us.?/p>

Phan Boi Tran, real name Phan Boi An, was born in 1954 in Hue and is a descendant of Phan Boi Chau.

In 1974 at the age of 20, he went to France to study composite and plastics engineering at University of Marseille.

In 1978, he graduated and began working for Comex company, specializing in submarine and helicopter shells.

In 2006, he founded his company in Vietnam specializing in designing machines, electric bicycles and children’s toys.

In 2010, he was the first Vietnamese inventor of Yet Kieu mini – submarine

Currently, there is a company in HCMC negotiating to buy his submarine used for laying underwater cable. In addition, his first submarines were exported to Malaysia to serve sea travelling at a price of only $3.500 each. Malaysia may order 50 more single-seat or two-seat submarines that are equipped with a glass lid to observe the marine life outside.
